Port-La-Nouvelle: Dismantling and rebuilding of a loading and unloading pipeline for refined products

Geocean carried out a project in the heart of the Natura 2000 area involving the dismantling of old infrastructure and replacing it with new infrastructure, linked to an existing terminal.

  • Location Port-La-Nouvelle, FRANCE

  • Solution Conventional Energy

  • Key date 2019 - 2021

  • Customer EPPLN

The site, subject to strict noise pollution and environmental preservation rules, required a meticulous approach to each phase of the worksite. Despite the exceptionally compact soil, the technique used to bury the pipelines was adapted to ensure the success of the installation in a coastal area.

Engineering, procurement, construction and installation:

  • Onshore/offshore surveys.
  • Inerting and debottlenecking of the existing 16″ imported seal.
  • Near-shore soil preparation (dredging and backfilling).
  • Laying of 1 new 16″ buried pipeline, 1,100 m long, new 16″ sealine, 2,200 m long, new 16″ connection spool between sealine and existing 10″ PLEM.
  • Proof test, cleaning and inspection of the new pipeline.
  • Installation of 2.2 km of 16″ curved pipe, installed by foundry pulling.
