The major challenge was to carry out the work during the power station’s scheduled shutdown, with no possibility of changing this deadline despite the onsite hazards. Thanks to the remarkable agility of our teams and impeccable management, the project was delivered on time in strict compliance with quality standards.
Engineering, procurement, construction and installation:
- Replacement of part of the 4 defective DN2300 GRP lines (2 intake + 2 outlets) with 4 DN2500 SDR33 HDPE pipes (PN6 Bars). The ground opening was stabilised by sheet piling along the replacement route.
- Cause of replacement: differential subsidence of GRP pipe support soil along the “unsupported” pipe route, leading to disconnection and breakage of pipe-to-pipe connections since plant construction (2000).
- Length of GRP replaced.
- Intake 2 x 125 m, at 2 locations of the site.
- Outfall 2 x 170 m.
- Chlorine line — 2 x 145 m, 8’’ tubes.
